What Is Sip Trunking
Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) is just a type of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service that many companies are using to streamline their telephone and data monthly expenses and enjoy savings from their current traditional voice and data services.
With traditional telephony, the local phone company delivers telephone services over a dedicated wire line or "trunk," that connects a company's telephone system PBX to the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). This physical wire, which runs under streets and telephone poles, is what connects the company to the local phone company’s central office, allowing the company to have phone service. This is the same technology that we have been using for 100 years.
SIP Trunking allows your business to combine voice, data and Internet over one single IP or Internet connection, thus eliminating the need to have separate voice and data networks and services - and allowing you to gain greater efficiencies. Many companies are able to cancel their telephone lines and voice T-1 PRI services and carry all their telephone calls on their data internet connection instead.
SIP Trunking is a simple, cost-effective method of lowering a company’s monthly telecommunication expense and increasing their efficiency with the many advantages and features the technology offers. SIP trunking is replacing traditional telephony just like computers have replace typewriters.
